I am a musician, author, and activist focused on uplifting the notion of community in our culture. My music is a fusion of jazz, RNB, soul, and alternative songwriting. I combine spoken word and rhythm to create music for the mind, body, and soul. As a woman of color, I am proud to continue the legacy of using music to advance our cultural narrative and educate the future. I graduated from UCLA in 2015 as a Distinguished Scholar and a Gates Millennium Scholar. As a musician and poet, I have performed at KEXP RADio, Langston Hughes performance art institute, Seattle art museum, folk life music festival, waco theatre north hollywood, and more. In 2022, I created a public art installation of my poetry and visual art book, poems in transit. in collaboration with Seattle Restored. I installed my work for a period of nine months in pioneer square with the intention of restoring the city with art. in 2022, I was asked to participate in a movement to redefine “American Art” with the Seattle Art Museum. I was selected as a musician to open the exhibition and will be giving an art talk on December 6, 2024 exploring the notion of recording culture. I have served on two grant panels for Seattle Arts and Culture, as well as, performing music as a City artist and Artist at the Center. As the Recipient of the City Artist Grant, I will be recording and performing music in 2024 with the support of the Seattle Art and Culture Department.
